Bonn City Council

Mr. Sridharan is Mayor of Bonn since October 21, 2015. He graduated from law school in Bonn in 1995. Since 1995, he has pursued his career in local government administration. In his last function, he held the positions of City Treasurer and City Manager of Königswinter, a neighboring town of Bonn. Mayor Sridharan brings in a broad range of experience: as Executive Director, he was responsible for a number of divisions within the city administration of Königswinter, including finances, schools, sports, cultural affairs and city partnerships up to the year 2010. As of 2010, he headed the financial division and the divisions of human resources, central administrative affairs, IT and controlling, and acted as mayoral representative of the City of Königswinter. 

As Mayor of Bonn, Mr. Sridharan is keen to expand his networks in order to strengthen Bonn as a nationally and internationally successful venue and platform for global sustainability. He is deeply committed to Bonn’s role as Germany’s United Nations City and host to a great number of governmental and non-governmental organizations. Mayor Sridharan will consolidate the city as a business location, promote the rich cultural life in Bonn and place an emphasis on the fields of science and education. A special challenge during his term of office will be the integration of the great number of refugees in the city. 

Mayor Sridharan will continue to actively support the work of city networks, to advocate the important role of local governments, to stimulate local action, and to foster city-to-city cooperation. He will support businesses and organizations wishing to relocate to Bonn, as well as the city’s growing international community. Moreover, he will be eager to offer platforms for fruitful debates in Bonn, to link actors and raise awareness for Bonn’s topics amongst multiplicators and the citizens of Bonn.
